We lead fast paced lives today. And keeping ourselves updated with the latest gadgets is no longer a luxury- it’s vital if you don’t want to get lost! One of the said gadgets-the smartphones have become our best buddies. Wee, it’s a new year and lots of new varieties to choose from. Here are the top 7 smartphones due for release this year.
GOOGLE’S MODULAR ARA SMARTPHONE
Google’s project Ara is the talk of every town at the moment. Well, at least among the tech freaks. The concept behind Project Ara will alter the general outlook towards smartphones in its entirety. In the existing trend, the consumer doesn’t have much of a say in the configuration of the phone. Project Ara plans to change that by implementing an open hardware platformwhich will include a structural frame that will hold modules of the owner’s choice. So the consumer can modify the display, the camera and other modules according to their own requirements. The first Ara phone is rumored to be slated for release in January 2015.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S6
To no one’s surprise (really!) Samsung is all geared up to launch its latest flagship handset – the Samsung Galaxy S6. It will have a built in Fingerprint Scanner, along with UV Sensors and will come with unidirectional microphones. Moreover, Samsung plans to introduce a fast charging functionality along with modifications in its default user Interface (Touchwiz) in the flagship handset. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6 will also have access to the new Theme Store which will enable them to buy and customize the themes based on their likes. Other features include a whopping 20MP rear and 5Mp front camera, and the Lollipop Android OS.
HTC ONE M9 (HIMA)

Apart from that, the HTC One M9 has a 5” 1080p Super LCD3 display screen and a Snapdragon 810 chip. The latter comes with an Octacore processor with 4 Cortex-A57 cores at 2.0GHz as well as 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz, Adreno 430 GPU with a 3GB of RAM. For starters, it is not yet clear to the spectators what the coming Apple flagship smartphone will be called. The grapevine has it that Apple is planning to drop the ‘S’ and ‘C’ naming trend and call the next one iPhone7. The smartphone will have a Sapphire glass display- the same one used in iWatch. Also, it could feature the 3D Display which was supposed to come out in the iPhone6. The configuration will be based on Apple A9 processors which uses the 14 nanometer technology. Not to be left behind in the Image Capturing field, iPhone 7 will display a major leap in the area. If the rumors are to be believed, it will have a two-lens system that will enable DSLR level image capturing.
SONY XPERIA Z4
Sony is supposedly discarding its ‘2 flagship handsets a year’ approach and instead releasing a single one. Granted, it’s in two varieties- the full HD display and the QHD Display. The Xperia Z4 has got a lot of punch to it if the specifications are to be believed. According to a set of leaked images from the Sony Database, the Z4 will have, in addition to a 5.2-inch QHD display, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 805 processor as well as the latest Android OS (Lollipop). It will be dust and water resistant. Moreover, if futuresupplier.com is to be believed, the Z4 also packs a digitizer, which will enhance the touch experience. The release date is unspecified yet.

It is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. ISOCELL powered 20.1 MP camera. The biggest allure that Xiaomi phones offer is the fact that the phones serve the same features that all high end flagship smartphones do, only at a much lower price. This the major reason for Xiaomi’s rise from nothing to stardom in a matter of four years. In terms of the screen size and resolution, the MI5 doesn’t disappoint – the screen measure 5.5-inches, and has a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. On the processor front, the device could be built with either Snapdragon 805 processor, or a Snapdragon 810 processor, and has 3GB RAM.
